Highway 1: Muir Woods to Bodega Bay (Map and Info)
Some “views” present themselves with convenient pull-through roadside parking. Others would slide through our consciousness as idle observations but for a moment’s quickening of the heart. These indulgent “moments,” however they might compel us to pause and gather in their sweet sensory detail, are what merge “scenic” with “drive” -and transform merely going somewhere into traveling.

Heather……how could you go on the beautiful Hwy. 1 route and then leave that place! Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for the pics!
Mark
I’ve been to the SF area many times with work and have tried to drive the various scenic roads (north, south and inland parts). It is frustrating to be driving having to keep eyes on the road while seeing these spectacular vistas appearing before you and struggling to stop on the side to have a decent look. I also imagine many other drives have one eye on the views and hence also probably aren’t paying attention to the road all that well…
Thank you Heather for the travel, i found this “merely going” just a wonderful travel and i liked so much

What a beautiful travelogue, Heather!
We look forward to welcoming you and your family to the Nova Scotia Authentic Seacoast to capture the magic of Chedabucto Bay.
Thanks for sharing!

Stunning shots. It must be the route Tippi Hedren took in ‘The Birds’.
I’ve been in Sonoma few months ago, but I did’not knew that piqturesque place…thanks for sharing
Mark: As I make my way across icy parking lots and bundle against negative wind chills, I’m asking myself the same question. The best answer I can come up with is: my kids. So theoretically, if I take them with me next time…
Mark H: Good point. My oldest boy drove a leg on the Blue Ridge Parkway when he had his learner’s permit. I remember constantly exclaiming over the panorama and then reminding him not to look in the next breath. It’s good to drive those sorts of roads with a descriptive companion who can tell you when it’s time to pull over for a spectacular view.
Thanks very much Francesco! It’s much more rewarding to “travel” than to simply “drive”.
Authentic Seacoast: I DO hope to return to Nova Scotia -with my kids, this time. Traveling through that area is a favorite childhood memory of mine that I’d love for them to experience themselves.
Jean-Luc:
Bodega Bay is breathtaking (especially with the wind!), but it’s just as fun getting yourself there in the first place!
**I have to confess: I know “The Birds” but have never seen it. I have a really vivid imagination and avoid horror movies because of the subsequent dreams I tend to get…
Demetrios:
Sonoma must have been lovely. The San Francisco area has a great variety of activities and scenery and is a great “get-away” destination.
The salt-water taffy, its the best in the little shack,, located in Bodega Bay.
Do you remember the Alfred Hitchcock movie, “The Birds”? It was filmed in Bodega Bay!!!
The oysters are really good around that area too. Great pic’s Heather. From, Jane
Thanks Jane. It’s an unforgettable spot. Your whole state has a lot of great adventures!
I guess you have sweet memories about that places
