Beyond the obvious benefits of a good snowfall: full coverage of a lawn that The Scotts Co. would be proud to use in a “Before” picture and no muddy dog paws when Lily romps in the woods -there’s a school kid sort of thrill at knowing that the weather could trump all the “should”s in my schedule.
Getting snowed in is not a bad thing (and unlikely, given the local media’s history of exaggerated weather “threats”). Granted I’d rather get stranded on a postcard perfect tropical island, but “cozy is as cozy does” and I’m with my kids in hoping school closes early today.
Especially since the trash guys already came by to haul off a couple weeks worth of holiday debris -wonder if they missed us as much as we missed them. Hmmm… they’re still sitting outside my window. Hope they’re not reconsidering.

Oh you’re so lucky. Stay home and drink some hot chocolate and watch an old movie with the kids. “Holiday Inn” …. Have fun.
I’m glad you’re cozy in the snow. I’m already tired of it and its only January. Its pretty to look at but not so fun to travel in!
Intrepid: How can a warm weather guy like you be such an expert on how best to handle a snow-in? Kids are making tracks on the sledding hill today!
Fly Girl: I have a definite bias toward sunny and warm, but running in the white stuff is pretty fun if you’re dressed for it. Hibernating just isn’t an option!
I used to love snow but now it feels claustrophobic to me. But so far this winter I’m dealing OK. Getting a snow blower helped a ton. I get less stressed about major snow falls now. I just wait until it stops and blast away. Before I’d shovel every four inches or so and it took forever.
We also got our wood stove up and running and that’s made it real nice and cozy.
There is far too much snow around. With the amount we’ve got, we don’t want any more, thank you!
Snow joke when it lasts too long ha ha!
