Rainfield: There aren’t a lot of stories that we get to follow so closely as we do the lives of our children. Zach’s “story” is one of my favorites.

One of the Guys: There’s joy in all the new things shared -but it IS hard to see more and more in the rear view mirror. I remember Zach at age nine. Wonderful times. I blinked and now he’s an eighteen year old man with unique perspectives and ideas. You will so enjoy the upcoming years as your nine year old grows into a man who will also be your friend.

My oldest is nine. (Of my younger three. I have an older stepson who’s almost 28) But anyway, when my oldest turned nine in the fall, I was driving to work crying in my car, thinking he was already halfway to adulthood, at which time he would leave us to live life in the big world. I’m almost in tears thinking about it. Life goes so fast.
