Featured Photo: Ahinga Head Shot (Everglades National Park, Florida; USA)
Alligators were expected. And mosquitoes. Everglades National Park wouldn’t be the sort of sauna experience that might normally be followed by a massage and/or pedicure. I presumed primitive. I anticipated hot. A spare stark landscape with slithering surprises. But it was the beautiful birds that most captivated me and my camera during our end of March visit last year: sub-tropic residents such as this contemplative guy (girl?) sitting sunnyside as its wings dried from a fishing expedition.

Heather, your photo of the Ahinga Head Shot is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing a special piece of the Florida Everglades
Thanks Bob. This bird gave me a few other nice shots as well, but I really like the simplicity of this one.
Great photo. I love the sweeping arch of its neck and beak.
Thank you Mark. I got several decent shots of this bird but the curving neck makes this one my favorite.
