Sunset photos of Horseshoe Bend near Page, Arizona take a bit of planning. Bursting changing light and a cliff side tripod perch are just a couple of the challenges. Wind and blowing sand can make the experience even more interesting.
The arc of the river around a hulk of glowing Navajo sandstone is captivating though, and serious photographers set up nightly to catch the colorful moment.

I love these spectacular views. It’s probably the thing I miss most about no longer living in Arizona
Awesome pics!
That top picture is vase. SDon’t stand near the edge!
WOW! You take extra care around there. The pictures are great, just make sure your around to send us more.
Magic. The colours are superb and worth the risky effort that you must have taken.
NothingProfound: A bit of elevation and lack of vegetation make for some dramatic views. I will never tire of that Navajo sandstone.
Thank you Caoimhin! I love seeing that sort of scenery through my camera lens!
Graham: I know!! I was very aware of where my feet were at all times!
Donald: Couldn’t be nearly as dangerous as your fishing voyages!
Mark: The risk was more about my heart beating way too fast! I took care of the edge but am always a little anxious around a dramatic drop-off like that.
