“Wa-a-ait a minute…”

Nina Munteanu (aka “SFGirl”) has tagged me to name seven random or weird facts about myself. Yikes. I told her that I’m glad it’s a random/weird option, because after this many years of being “me”, I have no idea as to whether a behavior is weird unless one of my kids is right there to roll their eyes at me. Of course, I’ve probably indoctrinated them a bit in return at this point. Someday they’ll find out that most people don’t really park their cars badly just to more easily find them again later.

My “seven” (random or weird; random or weird…? Still not sure):

1: I always carry a couple of crushed red pepper packets in my purse for pizza “emergencies”.

2: I love driving with my windows down (I know; get a convertible already!). To stretch this option even further, I’ll crank up the heat and wear a blanket across my lap to comfortably enjoy the natural breezes and “nature connection” through November.

3: I’m a fitness freak. My theory is that this is somehow related to my simply enduring the gym classes of my younger years. I’m making up for lost time now.

4: -But I’m not so much of a cook. When I remarked on a sister’s “signature dish” last weekend, my daughter affectionately commented that mine was probably a microwave dinner. Sigh… I blame it on the fact that playing football is much more important to my children’s ultimate development.

5: I attempted unassisted human flight by jumping off walls with an opened garbage bag when I was a kid (“random”). More than once (“weird”)… It just seemed like too good a possibility to pass up.

6: I was a terribly obedient child. When I ran away from home, I kept circling the block with my suitcase because I knew I wasn’t allowed to cross the street.

7: I make my bed first thing every morning, because I like knowing that no matter what the kids or the world at large might scatter about me, I’ll have something beautiful to fall into at the end of the day.

OK; I’m picking seven new-to-me types to carry this forward: mee mOe, JTJ3, onebrownguy, Jackal, Don, Alan Runcie, and DHanosh.

  4. These are great, Heather! I especially like number 5! Both random and weird….definitely WEIRD! LOL! Glad you survived it!

  5. I ran away from home once, for about two hours. I got bored and went back home.

  6. Jim,
I enjoyed reading your “facts” (the Greek AFS experience must have been amazing)! I laughed at your texting versus phone admission. It’s a matter of efficiency…

  7. mee mOe,
Ready to read something from you!! Hope the wedding was fun (much less pressure if it’s NOT your own, I’m thinking…)!

  8. OneBrownGuy,
I was enlightened and entertained (sounds like a review for one of the “chick flicks” you mentioned; ha)! Thanks for posting!

  9. Delmer,
Ha! Need to run away in more interesting neighborhoods, perhaps? I remember finally heading back home for ice cream; apparently tossing my principles aside in favor of dessert…
It always bothered me that my mom took such pleasure in examining the “essentials” packed in my suitcase; I was serious, darn it!
